The 2024 stage points by manufacturer report shows what a good year Toyota had despite the machinations of the playoff format making it seem much less successful.
2024 Stage Wins
Our first chart shows stage wins by manufacturer. I’ve separated out which stages each manufacturer won, with stage 1 wins in red, stage 2 wins in blue and the single stage 3 win in green. Remember that if a race is cut short, any remaining stage points are awarded per the finishing order.
With 31 total stage wins (42.5% of all stages) Toyota takes the crown for most stage wins in 2024.
That statistic is more impressive if you consider that Toyota has fewer cars than either Chevrolet or Ford. During the 2024 season, Toyota ran a total of 300 cars. Chevrolet had 537 cars and Ford 521. So with only 22.0% of the cars, Toyota won 42.5% of all stages.
Those finishes came from six of the eight full-time cars running Toyotas. Legacy Motor Club switched over to Toyota this year and didn’t perform very well. The stage-finishes-by-driver report report shows that Denny Hamlin won the most stages (seven) and Tyler Reddick came in second with six stages. That’s 41.9% of Toyota stage wins right there.
Reddick and Christopher Bell also won the Duels in 2024, which aren’t included in the above count.
Chevrolet came in second with 23 stage wins (31.5%) and Ford last with 19 stage wins (26.0%.)
Each of the manufacturers earned roughly the same number of stage 1 and stage 2 wins. Ford is a little skewed toward stage 2 wins (which make up 57.9% of all their wins), which I believe reflects their poorer qualifying.
2024 Stage Points by Manufacturer
If we include all cars finishing in the top-10 for each stage, Chevrolet takes the prize with a total of 1422 points from stage finishes.
But, again, remember that Toyota had roughly 60% of the cars Ford and Chevrolet did. If we compare average stage points per car:
- Chevrolet comes in at 2.65 stage points per car.
- Ford earns an average of 2.33 stage points per car.
- Toyota earns a whopping 4.59 stage points per car on average.
Car for car, Toyota wins this metric.
And that’s your 2024 stage points by manufacturer’s report.
